Lenovo Y700[azrev_img_box asin=”B014MIBWP2″ store=”smartvela-20″ disable-link=”on” align=”right” size=”m”][azrev_link_button asin=”B014MIBWP2″ store=”smartvela-20″ size=”s” bg-color=”#f1511b” text-color=”#ffffff” text=”Check Price” fluid=”on”][/azrev_img_box]
Aesthetically it looks like the older Y50. It’s the same pattern aluminum surface that looks pretty nice but fingerprints still show easily. It’s pretty easy to upgrade if you remove the bunch of screws at the bottom you can get access to the RAM slots and both drives the 2.5 inch SATA drive and the M2 slot. The build quality is much improved over the Y50 model, after months of regular use the hinge will still working perfectly. It is operable with one hand and it’s got nice tension. The inside surface is soft touch finish. The keyboard is pretty good; the arrows keys are positioned a little close to the adjacent keys.
The screen has a matte layer on it. It’s actually one of the very few laptops out there that have a matte finish touch screen. Someone has discovered that you could take a hairdryer heat up the adhesive and then peel off that layer on the screen. Your immediate reaction will be oh my god the screen is so much nicer. The thing is it is a very reflective display. The Lenovo Y700 has much-improved build quality from the previous Y50. The touchscreen display is great for interaction with different applications. So this one is very handy for photoshopping and as well as for video editing and a perfect one for playing games as well.

This is the entry level 15 inch gaming laptop. It’s been updated with some nice features including the GTX 1060. Not much has changed on the exterior. It’s got the black brushed aluminum top panel and a plastic bottom panel. The overall build quality on the laptop is excellent; the screen is flexible, you need to be very careful not to put too much weight on the laptop.
The screen hinge itself is also a little stiff. It’s not easy to open one-handed. However, the chassis is excellent. The keyboard area is aluminum, and it’s quite stiff. The keys are high to type on. MSI consistently has excellent keyboards, and this one does not disappoint. Good key travel with nice spacing. It has steel series lighting, it’s not individually lit keys, but it’s still cool to be able to customize colors. If you use your windows key a lot, keep in mind that it’s on the right side, on this keyboard.
The trackpad is medicine, it’s plastic, and it’s textured to match the brushed metal of the palm rest. It does not use the native windows drivers. It uses Elan drivers, so tracking is imperfect. But the texture is what gets me the most, and there is friction going from side to side, but not up and down. So it’s a little bit weird. The physical buttons are cute though. Good activation pressure, not too loud.

The first thing we want to say is this is not a lightweight laptop, its 7 pounds and it’s not super portable, also not thin at all. The top and bottom panels are made of aluminum which looks cool, it has a “Y” type of logo that looks nice, and the hinge mechanism has a fair amount of tension in the center. You can customize the RGB backlight in four different zones by pressing the FN key and spacebar, which is impressive for a keyboard. The speakers on this laptop are super loud, but there is noticeable distortion at higher volumes, so the bonus point for this laptop is its volume.
The Display is pretty decent as far as laps we want to go. It’s not incredibly bright so you may have a couple of problems using your laptop in outdoor lighting.
